I agree -- it's an extraordinary book. Greg Gaar has an incredible collection of photos, which he & Miller could draw on. And their text is wonderful description of the place they love.

A book: San Francisco-A Natural History, published by Arcadia in 2006 and authored by Greg Gaar and Ryder W. Miller, has in it, remarkable photos showing San Francisco's original landscape before it was built over. The book is a small volume of 124 pages, but one would have to search very hard to find a single book with as many images showing the dramatic transformation that has occurred in this land area we now call San Francisco.
